這是在台灣大街小巷，包括很多高級餐廳、飯店在內的菜單上，眾多的常犯錯誤﹝common mistakes﹞之一。英文裡的「juice」僅限於不加糖、不加水、不加冰的「原汁」。
那我們真正想喝的－－那種加糖加水又加冰，喝了可以養顏又美容的「檸檬汁」英文要怎麼說呢？ 這又要看你在哪了。
如果在美國就是「lemonade」。
但是到了英國就複雜了點。多年前，我生平第一次在英國點 lemonade 的下場是拿到一杯檸檬汽水！我當場和服務生反應：「I ordered a lemonade, not a lemon soda!」那件事發生在一年四季裡，每天觀光客川流不息的劍橋的一間小餐廳裡。穿著深色洋裝、白色圍裙做傳統女侍打扮的服務生，很不耐煩的從鼻口裡啍出一句：「This is a lemonade, not a lemon soda!」未待我再多加辯解時，她已不耐煩的打斷我的話：「Do you want it or not?」
之後，我終於搞懂一件事：「是的，在英國，『lemonade』指的就是檸檬汽水。」而我們慣喝的那種加糖加水又加冰的檸檬汁呢，他們管叫它：「lemon squash」，所謂的 squash 指的就是非純汁的果汁飲品。又或者有時他們也會稱檸檬汁為：「Traditional Still Lemonade」，傳統「靜止」的檸檬汁？ 所謂「靜止」指沒泡泡。
